Lollapalooza Tickets On Sale Tomorrow

by on Mar.27, 2012, under News

Lollapalooza is open for business tomorrow.  The Chicago festival, spanning from August 3rd-5th, is releasing their early bird and regular 3-day passes at 10 AM.

Lolla did a secret sale last week for $60 tickets and will now unveil packages for $200 and $230.  The $200 early bird package is expected to go fast and the $230 regular pass shouldn’t be far behind as the music fest scene continues to thrive.  Ultra, which quickly sold out, was a big hit this past weekend and Coachella ran out of tickets in only a matter of hours.

It will interesting to see what the lineup looks like at Lollapalooza this summer.  The EDM scene continues to dominate the music fests. Lolla 2011 included the likes of Skrillex, Afrojack, Pretty Lights and headliner Deadmau5.

An early rumor to headline this year is Avicii.  The Swedish DJ/Producer just released his US Spring/Summer Arena Tour and noticeably isn’t making a pit stop in Chicago.

An official lineup should be released in early April.  Be sure to get your credit card out early tomorrow and click here to enjoy Lollapalooza 2012.

Bassnectar ft. Lupe Fiasco- ‘Vava Voom’

by on Mar.23, 2012, under DUBBYfresh Beats

Bassnectar is at it again.  This time with Chicago’s own, Lupe Fiasco.

The California DJ/Producer is releasing a new album on 4.10.12 called ‘Vava Voom’ and this appears to be the first single.

The Vava Voom national tour will then begin on 4.11.12 in Indianapolis.

This single continues to showcase the blend between dubstep and hip-hop that we are seeing from a lot of producers. The classic Bassnectar dub doesn’t really kick in until the 2:38 mark.

Thanks to Rolling Stone for this exclusive premiere of ‘Vava Voom.’

Long Time No Post

by on Mar.21, 2012, under News, Uncategorized

All,

Its been a minute since we’ve taken the time to post on DubbyStep, and we’d like to apologize for our absence. But it was not our fault… We blame Snowball music festival. You see, we decided to take a long weekend and head out to Vail for 3 days of what would be one of the best/most intense vacations we have taken since our sophomore trip to Acapulco, Mexico….

Now the thought was to come home from Vail and immediately write a post…naturally…but this didn’t happen. To be honest, we were simply partied out. In fact, the experience of sitting down to write a an article on the experience was equally nostalgic and terrifying… At this point it seems as though too much time has passed to offer anything that could be considered an original or authentic thought on our trip. Rather than fake it, lets just say we had fun; a lot of fun:

Dirtybird Records has “Hatched”

by on Mar.14, 2012, under DUBBYfresh Beats, DUBBYstep Emerging Artists

I feel the urge to post an unreleased song I first discovered from Justin Martin on HOLY SHIP! now that the rumor has come and gone that Daft Punk will be headlining the Spring Awakening Festival in Chicago this June.

The track that Martin introduced me to is French Fries’ 2011 remix of Thomas Bangalter’s, “What To Do.”  The original track was created by Bangalter in 1995 and the remix is now rumored to be getting an official release on Dirtybird Records.  For those of you confused about the correlation right now, Thomas Bangalter is one half of French electronic duo, Daft Punk, and French Fries is a young producer/DJ who also hails from France.    This is a different genre of dance music than traditional Daft Punk songs, but it definitely is fun to shake your ass to live!

French Fries’ EP “Yo Vogue” features remixes by Claude Vonstroke (on the line-up for Chicago’s Spring Awakening 2012) and Leroy Peppers aka Christian Martin.  However, ‘What To Do’ is not part of it.  ‘Yo Vogue’ is the most recent release on Dirtybird Records and can be found over at beatport.com.  Posted below is Claude Vonstroke’s remix of French Fries’ ‘Yo Vogue’ for a small taste of the heavy bass we can expect from his Spring Awakening set.
